East African music fans have something special to enjoy as Burundian legend Kidum Kibido releases his new emotional track, “Inyagasambu.” The song pays tribute to the late Jean Christopher Matata, an artist whose influence continues to shape music across the region.
Kidum shares the touching memory that inspired the track, taking listeners back to 1986, when he was 12 years old. He recalls seeing Matata pass by his home in Kinama, the same neighborhood where Matata was born. Overwhelmed with excitement, Kidum and other children followed him for nearly 4 kilometers, amazed by the presence of the rising star.
